My Schema!

OKAY FUCKIERS HERE'S HOW I THINK AND WHY I'M PROBABLY WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING (but in a good way!)

Core Components

The Learning Loop

My brain basically runs on this perpetual cycle of:

  1. GET EXCITED ABOUT THING
  2. Dive deep as FUCK into it
  3. Hit inevitable Schema-misses
  4. Have existential crisis
  5. Schema Adjustment TIME BABYYY
  6. Emerge with better understanding
  7. REPEAT

It's like I'm running my own personal Machine Learning training loop except I'M the neural network and my loss function is "how much did reality just punch my assumptions in the face" lmaooo

Pattern Recognition Gone Wild

I see patterns and thansk kinda just how llife is, and it im sure other people see them too but WHY havent we put them into words, or if we haven't then i just havent gained the experience of getting to figure out convention. Its like uhhhhh that one thing where kids who don't have pure vocabulary can't quite say their things as they are said... Like how Manifold theory in ML is basically just how our brains try to unfold reality into something we can actually process? Sometimes this means I make connections that aren't actually there BUT THAT'S OKAY because finding out I'm wrong is how I learn! and thats just a schema miss.

Check out Manifold if you wanna see what I mean about manifolds, it's basically what my brain is trying to do all the time.

How It All Works Together

The whole system runs on pure chaotic good energy and an obsession with understanding things by breaking them apart and putting them back together wrong until they're right. It's messy but it WORKS.

Key features:

  • Extremely online brain that processes everything through memes and analogies
  • Learning through Schema-misses because failing is just spicy learning
  • Always trying to build on the backs of giants because the heavy lifting, has kinda mostly been done? this is just what hofstadter writes about where it can constantly expand in a formal system through self reference
  • Little alchemist type shit

When It Breaks

Oh it breaks ALL THE TIME. But that's literally the point? Every time my schema breaks it's like "HELL YEAH NEW DATA DROP" and then I get to rebuild it better. It's like that thing in Momentum where sometimes you gotta yeet yourself past the local minimum to find the actual solution.

The Meta Layer

The fun part is that this whole document is itself an example of how my schema works - it's messy, enthusiastic, full of connections, and totally willing to admit when it's probably wrong about stuff.

See Schema-misses for more examples of times I've had to rebuild my whole understanding of things. It's basically my favorite hobby at this point lmao.

ANYWAYS that's how my brain works! If you're reading this you probably either:

  1. Are me from the future (hi!)
  2. Are trying to understand how I think (good luck!)
  3. Got here by accident (check out Terms and Concepts maybe? DEFINITELY check out Defined Concepts)

Remember: If your schema doesn't work, THROW IT OUT! Build a better one! That's literally how we get better at thinking! OKAy jokes somewhat like Schema Adjustments totally exist or whatever so. UHHHHH

this is not complete at all, but hopefully provides some input into how i am.
